Any advice

Okay I know a brick on wheels is not going to get 20+ miles a gallon. But my question is what could you do to try and get mid 20's in a jeep. New Engine? I have a 4.2 in it right now. I am getting ready to buy a new car unless someone can come up with something for me to try.

Edit: I drive about 150 miles a day just for work.

Well with the sale of the house I will have enough money to pay off all my bills and still have enough to by a new car. I just did not know if I put some kind of GM motor in it if it would get me in the mid 20's. I would rather put the money into the jeep but if it cant be done then new car it is.

I think upper teens is about as good as you can expect no matter what engine is in there, and that's doing pretty well. (diesel aside, you can do better with one of those...)

I'd say check the auctions that TNT does (open to the public). I went to the one in Vegas and there were tons of MPG getters (late 90's clear up to mid 2000's) that were in great shape that sold for under $2,000... then put the rest in the jeep.
