Any HAM Radio Operators here?

Budog

A legend in his own mind.
I was just wondering if there are any HAM Radio Operators here? My Son "Trash" and I are study to get out Technician Class License. We take our FCC Licensing exam on July 1st. We are both joining the Davis County Amateur Radio Club this weekend. I am really looking forward to getting on the air and feel four wheeling and radio are two great hobbies that go well together.

Budog. :D

I'm not on daily any more. My antenna is not a happy camper with my work parking garage. I need to snag a lower profile unit. There's a bunch of us on here and a thread or two with other guys call signs and whatnot.

I have been using some illegally  for race communication in remote areas of NV. and AZ., but planning on taking a test later this summer. :p

In the meantime, I'll just go by... KE7KVP

Chris has made his own power supplies and a real cool radio antenna tower for his home base station just to name a few of his talents. Handheld, mobile and base systems he can answer your questions.

His tower slides inside itself and raises up over his roof line when he wants to use it. He designed it to fit next to his house. making it raise up and down with a cable like a tent trailer with the help of a winch and of course a hand crank in-case the powers out. I think his antenna is like 45 feet across. When its down you'd never know it's there. Making it galvanized so it wouldn't rust as well. This made his DX jump into hyper-zone.

So how easy is it to hit a repeater in the Southern part of the state?
I just passed my test today, headed to Escalante next month and was
wondering if you could reach out and touch someone on 2 meters from
around there.

There is a book that you can buy for like $9 that gives all the freq and offsets for all the repeaters in the nation... its very handy...and its small enough to place in your glovebox...
