Our furnace went out yesterday and its getting cold in the house. I went through the ignition cycle and everything works except the main burner turning on. I am getting voltage to the main valve solenoid and hear it turning on but no gas seems to be making it to the heat chamber. The other furnace upstairs and the water heater are working and the pilot light comes on so I know there is gas. The last time I tried to buy one of the control boards for the upstairs furnace they wouldn't sell it to me since I'm not an HVAC guy. Ended up having to fix the board myself. I am confident they wouldn't sell me a main valve. Someone who is an HVAC guy want a job ? or know of someone who does good work ?

I can often get parts from Allreds in midvale without an hvac license or account.

I recently had a guy install a new furnace and was very happy with him, price and service. Jean (said like John) (801) 300-051two

Flame sensor?
The pilot flame sensor is working and the control board senses it and turns on the main gas valve. The problem is that the gas doesn't make it to the combustion chamber so no flame and the flame sensor tells the control board to shut it down after about 8 seconds.

I sent SOS an email thinking it would take a while and they contacted me right away. The tech just left and we have heat again. I told him how I knew to call and we ended up talking how to fix his Jeep while we were testing the furnace.
Awesome! Glad they were able to help you out!

Mine when I had a bad flame sensor, would do what you describe. It would try to go and then shutoff the small burners. All I had to do was pull it out and sos pad the sensor tip. I'm going to presume you know more then I do, but easy to try

That was one of the first things I did, so a good suggestion.
