Any ideas for a flexy XJ lift?

RE doesn't have a long arm kit out yet for XJ's, they've been working on it for a while but it's not out yet. They do have great short arm kits for them though.

RE just came out with a long arm kit! They had the proto type down at EJS and it should be ready to buy this month or next.[

I had a body shop fix up my fenders to fit 35s. I'm at about 7.5" right now, but could easily fit them at 5-6" no doubt. I've had a few people ask why my wheelwells came from the factory so large, the body shop did a good job of keeping stock appearance. So, yes, there are shops out there that can and will do it.

I run my own custom link setup up front that works really well. I run limiting straps to help keep my steering from binding. But remember, flex isn't everything... It may look good on a ramp, but that might not do you any good either.

My setup is around 7" or so of suspension (no more than 8) and 38" sx's ( that barely fit in my wheel wells!!! ). I've even thought about bringing the suspsension down another inch.

I understand and agree with you that you could fit 35s with 6" of lift and major trimming, no matter who did it, as long as it was done well. I did it and it worked well.

I still don't agree that someone could run 35s with 3" of lift with just fender trimming. BTW, here's a story of what I did mine 3 years ago.

then I did this 2 years ago.

Then I rolled it too much and parted it out.

I just had a talk with the boys at RE and the kit isn't out. It's still in the R&D stages. He said they hope to have it out in three months.

Thanks you guys for all of your imput. It sounds like my best bet would be to go with the RE long arm kit when it comes out and if i want to run 35's to trim my fenders and get rid of the bushwackers, or go with the rock krawler 8" or skyjacker 8" lift and avoid trimming. I would rather not use coil spacers because i have been told that they cause coil sag. If any one has any other suggestions that would be great. Thanks again-

I have the new RE catalog and it's in there(xj long arm kit) with a price of $16xx.00, somewhere around 1600-1700 I'll check when I get home.

Yeah, all lift kit manufacturers do this. They "release" the kit at some expected date. This doesn't mean you can have it though. The manufacturer produces 3 or 4 kits and lets a select few run the prototypes. This way they can see what cracks and shimmys develope, they resolve the problem and run more prototypes. Eventually they mass produce them and sell them to anybody but only after they know the kit is goo. Just cause you can see it in a catalog doesn't mean you can buy it.
Anyway, they say three months, that usually translates to like six months. If they run into a problem they have to fix it and run the new kit for a little while to see if any problems arise.

hmm, sounds like they musta had some problems, cause it sounds like they had to delay the option to buy. And I don't see why they would put a price on it, if they can't sell it yet? Should just say coming soon... or something.. once again IMO

That looks like a lot of rear flex! There wasn't a whole lot of info on what exactly he was using. What was that guy using for coil springs up front? And what exactly was the set up in the rear?

A lot of people say "cool" but I think WACKED! That's the problem with a forum, you don't know if the people know any better.
Look at those freaky 12" rear shackles. I give him one good day on the rocks to fold those over. Think about all the cracks his uni will get with those freaky things on it. He'll never be done.

Wow, 37s and 6" of lift. Must flex like a tank. I think I had 8" to 10" of lift when I ran 37s on my XJ and did some massive trimming to boot.
Bart

8"-10"??? With only 37"s? Interesting
