I have a 1990 jeep wrangler yj 4 cyl tbi. Anyway its not running like it should, it has a new motor in it. Its been at the jeep dealer for some time now, they put a fuel pump in it, they cracked my throttle body trying to see what was going on in there, they found a used one and still runs like crap. Its seems like its hesitant to get going.

So is there anybody in here who knows alot about the jeep yj?? and who can help me out??? please i need help im getting tired of the dealer telling me its fixed and running good, and when i go down there and test drive its not.

you can write back on here or text or call me. message me and i will give you my number.

Thanks for anyone who helps me out i appreciate it!

I am not an expert, but one of our techs bought a YJ that promptly blew up after he owned it for a couple of months. He rebuilt the engine and trans and now the thing runs like a top. If you'd like, I could open a line between the 2 of you. He's a bit Oregon but a good guy otherwise.

I recently replaced my distributor (cuz it was leaking oil out of the seep hole in the back) and now it idles perfect. Ya could also try unplugging the EGR and put a screw in the vaccum line. I would replace the EGR then week's later it would start to idle funny again , I even cleaned out the intake. So I unplugged it . Passes I.M. fine .

It don't run like it should, i shouldn't have to try 10 times to get it to finally start, it should just fire right up, it being tbi injected correct? Then when it finally did start it wouldn't idle correctly just sounded like it was struggling to get fuel or something. Like a sputtering sound. Dealership has had it for like 4 months!

Can ya have them show you how much fuel pressure it has . It does sound like a fuel pressure problem . TBI has more PSI than carb's but less than MPFI .
