Anybody wanna watch the Perseid meteor shower on August 11th with me?

Yeah, it was a decent show until the clouds started to move in. I'm glad so many of you were able to get of and watch, even if we were spread all over the place. Just goes to show there wasn't a bad location for watching.

In all seriousness, thank you for making this thread. My family and I had a great time together in a way that we don't enjoy nearly often enough. If I hadn't read this thread, I wouldn't have known about it, or had the idea to take the fam out there to watch it. Thanks.

Wow, I'm glad to hear it went over so well with your family. If you enjoyed it so much, make sure you bookmark that web link I mentioned in post #10 of this thread. It will keep you up to date on every meteor shower (and more), giving you numerous opportunities to take in celestial phenomena.

This year's peak is again on the night of Thursday the 11th into Friday morning the 12th. The moon may interfere with your ease of viewing, but it is supposed to set around midnight so it will only be a temporary nuisance. The weather forecast calls for clear skies with an overnight low of 61 degrees... so conditions will be just about perfect!

I was about to make a thread here in RME. I have made arrangements to work the late shift on Friday, thus allowing me to stay out until 3 or 4 am if I want.

Who else is in?

Will there be too much distraction from the roadway at this spot?

No, not based on my own experience there. We'll be sitting 50+ yards from the road, and our backs will be to the road so the headlights won't be any sort of bother. The toilets are just an added bonus.

I'll be up Mirror Lake Hwy, thanks for bumping this because I wouldn't have known it was going on otherwise. I'll have to try and stay up to watch.

When I was up by Skyline Dr the stars were huge. Would be cool to see this up there.
Still kicking myself for not talking pictures.

Dempsey, what kind of vehicle will you be in?
We will be in a grey expedition, and my buddy will be in a lifted grey dodge.
4 adults, 6 kids 8yrs and younger

North side of the road, main parking lot?
