Anyone every stretch a Jeep hard or soft top?

I'm in the process of stretching my CJ-7 (body and frame) and need to find a way to top it. I have the factory hard top that will of course not fit after I'm done. Has anyone ever stretched a hard top or should I sell it and pick up a soft top and have that stretched?

There's a place in Farmington New Mexico that builds very nice custom Jeep tops. They could do the job and have it look better than stock. Wish I could remember the name.

Keep us in the loop of what you do. I have toyed with the idea of stretching a CJ7 top to fit a CJ8. I understand that boat places who work with fiberglass all day maybe able to help too.

I stretched the frame but not the body, that way I can still use the factory tops.

I've seen a few that just used the Cj-7 hardtop as is and filled in the space at the back with a nice toolbox or toneua??? cover.

I called a few boat places and it looks like its going to cost a $hit load to get it longer and harder (that was for XT Utah).

A hard top would be simple to stretch out, but not all that cheap. You'd need a donor top, to make up the extra length, and then have custom side windows cut so it's probably sixes on the cost. As far as doing the actual fiberglass work, is easy.

I went to sugarhouse awning in hmm...sugarhouse, and they made me a soft top for my cut in half 4runner hard top....

Might serve your purpose to visit them!
