It doesn't help in the borrow department, but you can rent them. If I had one you could borrow it.

I think Home Depot has what i'm looking for, for around $50 a day or $35ish for 4 hours.. That'll be my contingency.

Ha, I highly doubt my backyard will be much more than a 4hr process - as far as the renting of the weed eater on steroids goes.. 90% of the job that needs the major equipment is the lower section.

Might be better off with one of those Billy Goat walk-behind brushhogs. I used one once to clear a small lot, took out trees 2" diameter, and they are self propelled.
