ARB Compressor Location 97 ZJ

Just got my ARB lockers and air compressor, where the hell have people been mounting the compressor, there is no room in the engine compartment.

I have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Orvis edition (5.2l V8) and I my appointment to have them installed is on the 9th, please give your oppinion and if you have pics please post.

Also I have heard of people installing aftermarket intakes and mounting it in the stock location of the air box, but I dont have the time to get an intake.

Thank you

In my XJ, I really liked having the ARB compressor on the drivers side rear wheeltub. It kept it out of the elements and worked pretty well for me. I vented the 'release' valves out of the passenger compartment. The only thing that bugged some people riding with me is that you'd hear the compressor inside the passenger compartment. Didn't bother me, but people asked how much it bothered me so it must have bothered them.

I have thought much about location and one spot was in the back, the only problem I have with that is my wife sometimes drives the jeep as a DD and the combination of her putting her stuff back there as well as the car seats, not to mention having my spare back there while wheeling poses a problem.

I have seen pics of the compressor mounted under the rear seat where the jack should be, I just dont need it getting to hot in there because my kids love to go wheeling.

How loud is the compressor?

All help is appreciated, thanx much.

Oh and BTW, no flames please, I did a search and read some stuff but nothing applicaple to my application.

I highly reccomend getting rid of your factory intake and using that space for something productive. Not to mention the factory intake sucks.

There will be naysayers, but a good friend is running a small round aircleaner with a K&N filter directly on the throttle body. These are found and any PepCheckZone, and are dirt cheap. They might not have a K&N for it, but the chrome housing comes with a paper to get you by till you get a K&N. Harry propped his hood up a bit at the back with a couple of washers between the hood and the hinges, but I don't think it was needed, he just wanted a ghetto cown induction setup. I know those little filters are cheezy, but you can't tell me they flow less air than the factory cold air neck. The inlet just upstream of the throttle body is rediculously small and restricted. Harry claims better mileage after his filter, but I can't speak to this. I can say the throttle responce seems more crisp, and you can certainly hear it sucking air.
Personally, I run an edlebrock mushroom filter, but I had to cut a hole in the hood to clear it. I KNOW my setup gets me about 1-2 MPG over the stock intake, and it made a noticable improvement in power.

Also, if you don't want to go that way, JeepinJoe's brother put his under his dash, but that might be too noisy for your application. I know where my compressor is going.
