Long story short went to mini moab last week on a flop trip. Didn't do enough (Didn't help the the Cherokee with me doesn't have tow hooks) and on that subject when did it turn into a dump out there. I saw Corner Canyon is open but from what I call tell on the maps, nothings open up there. Are there any hidden canyons I can go dink around in, near the SL Valley? Just looking to avoid $100 gas bill just to go play. Thanx.

There's one open dirt road at the base of Corner Canyon, but it's literally a dirt road. Minivans drive it every day. Everything else in Corner Canyon (and on the other side in Highland/Alpine) is shut down to trucks. There's lots of roads up the Cottonwoods and Mill Creek Canyons, including some old mining roads that look like they'd be fun, but they're all gated and signed against motorized traffic. I don't know of anything in the valley or immediately around it that I'd call four-wheeling fun. There's a big chunk of fallow land up on hwy 111 right underneath the Oquirhhs that I see lots of motorcycles and quads screwing around on, but I don't think there's anything like a trail in there either.

You could always go out to Skull Valley/Lone Rock area. It's BLM land, there are trails all over, though it gets interesting when it is wet/rainy. I was out there today and had a lot of fun, I'll try to get some pics up. A little bit of everything there, really.

Is skull valley not Indian land ? I have not been there in a long time we camped there a lot as boy scouts year round. Man its cold there in December. But a very pretty place. Sorry there just does not seem to be any close wheeling anymore. We used to go to lark park Butterfield canyon corner canyon Doughnut falls empty fields around sandy etc. But between the never ending development and the envirodicks There is not nearly as much fun to be had locally it makes me sad for the kids looking to have a little fun without much gas money.

No, not Indian land, as far as I know. I've been going there with my dad since I was a kid. Just take the Delle/Iosepa exit and go south. The area around Lone Rock is fair game, as is a bit farther south at the "Skull Valley Off Road Camp Area" just down and across the road from Horseshoe springs. Some fun terrain around there and like you said, good camping/shooting spots.

Old Ward Canyon up Bountiful B is close to the valley itself, and that's maybe 1/4 tank of gas round trip from the valley depending what you drive?

Sessions Rd has a few fun sections although nothing technical that you can spend some time on. Just don't go too far deep like I did if you're not equipped for it haha.

a few shots of skull valley and lone rock

I don't have too many shots, didn't take my camera. Here's a few cell phone shots. It's a fun place, desert, rock, some climbing can be done, and mud if it's been rainy. Rest assured you can bury your rig if you want. And note to self... Never ever take a vertical pic on a cell phone.
