Riddle me this, Why is it, that a tire in a single wheel application can hold more weight per tire than the same tire in a dual wheel application at the same PSI ?

Isn't this a function of the axle and not the tires. For example a rear axle has a 10000lb rating. Minus the weight of the truck at 6000lbs for single rear wheels and 6200lbs dual rear wheels. So the avail weight capasity (sp) of a single rear wheel truck is 4000 lbs and 3800 for a dually.
