How do I get my axle bearings off. I need to replace them and have never done this before. Do I just heat up the inner race with a torch and it will slid off or what?

I think the best method I have used is to grind a flat spot on one side of the keeper and then use a chisel directed into the axle to finish the cut. they usually pop right off.

When it comes time to putting the bearings back on you will need a press anyways. Another way to remove them is to just grind into them until you cut through, just be careful not to grind into your axle.

says who?? a press is really nice, but if you dont have one you get creative :D seriously though, i have done a R&P install, rebuilt pretty much everything i can lay my hands on, seals of everything imaginable.... i wish i had a press. but for now a hammer will work for me. if your carefull you can get very precise.

on my banshee, i replaced the rear axle bearings, EVERYONE i talked to said you MUST have a press. everyone thought i was nuts for doing it with a hammer..

for axle bearings i would cut the outter race off and grind most of the way through the inner. chisel it off until it pops off..... then get a nice piece of pipe and slap it over your new bearing and beat it on there....

seriously, necessity drives invention

Induction heater is the way I'll install the bearings. To get them off a press or grinder will work. Whats the best place to buy new bearings and axle seals??
