Anyone here ever have a tj dana 44 axle retubed? If so, who did you have do it and if I may ask, how much was it? I am not concerned about welding on all the brackets, as I have new ones waiting in the wings, and can weld. I just dont have the press to handle that kind of a push, nor the spacer that goes in between the carrier bearing journals. I also dont have a way to align the axle bearings cups once the new tubes are in. Thanks in advance for any help.

If I were you, I would call Kevin or Kent at Six States in Orem. I have had nothing but good luck with them, and they do awesome work.

As far as a price, I would have no clue.

What are you trying to do? Do you want to widen it? Are you using a core 44 that you want tubed for a TJ application? A little more info might help....

My brother just had a rear d44 re-tubed. I think it cost him about 500-600 for both sides. He had Advanced 4 wheel drive do it. (Its just a few blocks from Six States) My Bro was a little annoyed that it took almost 7 weeks to get it back, when they had told him a couple weeks. He did get alloy shafts which saposedly took extra time to arrive, so there were some reasons.
He did remove everything, and took the axle to them.

I got the impression the shop is extremely busy, and it may have been just bad timing.

Six States in SL actually refered us to these guys.

They did seem to do a good job.

I have an unlimited with the rear dana 44, and to make a long story short, I question the integrity of my rear axle tubes. They have nicks and dents and I am ready to put new brackets on anyway, so I want to push in 2 new tubes with a 3/8" or so wall before I waste the time welding on the new brackets. Is that enough info?

Thats a lot of $$ and work for an axle that is pretty good as is. I would suggest that while you are doing the brackets, spend some time and build a nice clean brace for it....

I know its a good axle, and it does have a brace. I am running the Clayton setup. I just dont like the tubes, and want them replaced. Thats all I'm lookin for. I have the clayton high clearance bracket set, and will get a new brace if I can get the new tubes for a decent price.

advance 4 wheel drive (randy) doesn't have the best reputation. Carefull.

and yes I am trying to be politically correct, but i am also trying to pass on info I wish I had been given.
