Anyone know the weight difference between stock LJ rubicon axles and hp 60 rockjock III's? How much more do the 60's weigh? I've looked all over but cant find decent numbers.

Well not much more.

RJ60s dont need alot of trussing.

I would say about 60lb difference

Somewhere around there. A lot less than an OEM D60 anyway. Aluminum center section, smaller diameter, thinner wall tubes, unit bearings, 1/2 ton brakes take a lot of weight out.

I bet a loaded rock jock is almost 200 lbs more. Sure a rubicon 44 is bigger than a 30, but I can move a loaded 30 around by myself. I could barely lift up one side of the 60. Everything about the 60 is heavier. The locker/carrier probably weighs 15 to 20 lbs more, the shafts and u joints are a lot heavier and the knuckles are bigger and heavier. Plus you're going from a 2.75 1/4" wall tube to a 3" 1/2 wall tube. 60s are not light. But they don't break nearly as easy either ;)

On pirate a guy posted the weights of stock 60's dodge, chev and ford and I know they are not what you are wanting but may give you some sort of idea, he was saying 660 to 690 with chev on the heavier end... That's for a steering axle as well. I don't see the aluminum housing saving more than 30 lbs but brakes, gussets and brackets could make lots of difference

Junk yard axles are heavy.

3in x .375 wall tubes are the norm for tera and RJ D60s

Currie makes a JK 44 now

Agree on the weight adding up quick.

Just think if you added 35 spline ARB to a 44, shafts, big brake kit, sleeve kit, knuckle gussets, heavy diff cover, HD brackets, truss

That weight adds up very quick

Curious as to why the weight would matter much?.... It'll be unsprung weight so it shouldn't make much of a difference on your rig? Possibly slow down your freeway OnRamp full-throttle assaults....

Unsprung weight is the devil if you like to go fast..... wether it be racing or hauling ass down a washboard road
