What about motor flushes? Do you guys use them ever with every oil change?

I would not recomend using a engine flush on every 3000mi oil change but if you are more than 500mi over due on the oil change or if you dont know when the last time it was done go for it.
Or you could put in a quart of trany fluid in with the oil and let it run for a while and than change the oil , the trans fluid has a detergent in it that helps brake up the sludge and keep the oil gallies clean.

You mean higher friction...or are you refering to how much it will slip?

yeah, lower friction means more slip, more slip means more heat, more heat means a shorter life...:D But like you pointed out it can go both ways ;) (more friction means more heat...etc)

woah... you get MORE heat out of LESS friction?

as far as I know, synthetics lower the friction on all the other parts but let the clutch packs work just fine..

slide down one of the faces in Moab... now do it covered in lard. Which time burns yer ass the most? heheheh j/k but I'm wondering what you mean?

read the post just above yours...in an auto the more it slips the more heat it creates...ever torn into an auto? where else is there anything that would cause any kind of friction? there isn;t other than clutch packs...

To update this thread I would like to say that suprisingly the auto tranny smoothed out very nicely after a filter and fluid replacement. I threw in the trick shift and thought want the hell, might as well! After driving for about 200-500 miles the shifting went at least back to normal if not better! I am very happy that the jeep is running smooth and who knows maybe the blue dye did something!!!! LOL!!! No more trying to time the gas pedal to get things shifting better and I'm getting about 15 around town and 18 highway mpg with 33's and 4.56's on an engine with 170k miles.
