Ballistic 609 freebie update

SO! the axle arrived today, UPS. Pics are coming as soon as I find a frickin' USB cable that fits my damn camera.. anyway. Receipt has this at something like $1080 or something with the Reid knuckles. Sweet!
Housing was shipped when they said, so that's cool, and got here on time. Awwwright! Center chunk was wrapped, and had the packing list, receipt, etc on it.. but no stickers inside!
Ends of the housing were protected with carboard and shrink wrap. Some minor scraping/scratching but so what. The Ballistic skull got scraped a bit.
tubes were spec'd at 3/8", measure an actual 0.40". Sweet. Faceplate was spec'd at 3/8" also, measures an actual 0.340-0.370-- this is machined flat after welding I guess. I'd prefer that their jiggery was a bit more precise but so what. Tube lengths off center are dead on, this is spec'd as a fullsize GM axle, so plenty to cut down for a buggy.
The bad? Well.. some machining chips in the housing. Not a huge deal but if I had paid a grand I wouldn't be stoked to see that. More disappointingly, there are two small spots of poor penetration on the internal brace where the long-side tube enters the housing. HAZ on the exterior gaps out twice. Is that something to freak about out? Well, no, it's not-- 1. I think this was a Friday axle 2. the housing itself trusses this area with tons of support 2. the internal brace still has a TON of weld . So really this is not a huge deal, just something I didn't like to see.
So. My opinion as it sits right now is that this is a nice piece of axle, and I'm stoked to have it. Looks plenty stout, full weldable, good quality, etc. Overall I'm pleased. From EJS to now, with mutual delays, I'm pleased with the delivery.
Now to post to Pirate. I said I'd be fair, and I will.
EDIT: this will likely turn into a cage for the FJ40, and end up under Robby's new rig.

Yeah, none of them affect the function at all.. won't even be able to see it under paint anyway. We'll see how everything goes.

So Sideshow came over today, and it looks like we have a deal : He gets a sweet housing with Reid inner C's (and some unused kingpins I found in my pile o' parts), and I get a cage and sliders for the Blazer, and I'll be helping with that project a little. I can dig it! Looks like around 120' of tube for what I've got in mind.
