I can see the headlines now...

"Rockcrawlers drink the night away and then head to the hills to tear up the environment"

Sounds like a cool concept, but I'm not sure what type of stereotype it will give the outsiders about our sport. They see a bar called "Crawlers" and hear us talking about going "Crawling", its sure to be associated.

Look at the image bars have given bikers, in Utah I would bet that ~20% of Harley owners are bar-goers, but when I think about a biker, I think of bar fights, heavy drinking and dangerous fights...

Maybe.....We will just all have to be responsible. It's my impression that the name is a hint to what you will be doin after too much of this weird drink they have....

Wow bikers are cool i want one now :D

True... :D

Unfortunately that is the way the human mind thinks... Ask your average 4x4 dude about Professional Rockcrawling (someone that has never attended, nor hangs out with competitors), they think that the sport is a bunch of wild headed drivers trying to roll their rig more than the next guy, regardless of the damage to themselves, the environment, or their vehicle... I have had emails regarding "the U4WDA's support of this reckless sport", now granted these are uninformed people, but they do vote, they do talk, and they do spread the word be it false or true...

Once again, that is a complete tangent to the bar... but I was asked if I knew what it was because my girlfreind noticed the little Jeep on the sign and associated a bar named Crawlers with me because I compete and wheel...

Those are some good points, but you can blame rockracing for that. To me, competitions these days are pretty far removed from the average 4wheeler.. with the side benefit of freakin' awesome trickle-down tech and parts porn. I'm not sure how many civilians are confusing comp rigs with the kind of 4 wheel drive use that gets hammered in the press, more likely that people imagine Jeeps out in the precious wilderness, or Moab, than some moon buggy flying up some obstacle. I could be wrong... at any rate I'm not sure the impact is going to be that severe? Bikers got that image thanks to large groups of them acting the way people think they ALL act.. and even that's changed these days. I don't think that's the case with four-wheeling, there was never a Hell's Angel equivalent.

Pirate4x4 maybe? LOL

:p Pirate4x4 is probably the closest thing to it :D

I do want to get down and check it out, don't get me wrong I think it could be a fun place to hang, I'd just hate for the "common-folk" to associate Rockcrawlers with a bar on state ;)

A bar is associated with its patrons so if we are responsible then no harm should come to having a bar designed for us "crawlers" out there :D i say bring on the beer
