Basement Finishing Help...

I'm trying to get to Sheetrocking my basement this Saturday, and have a few things to be buttoned up that I could use help with..

Framing: 3 short walls, doorframe w/ arch, and around a section of duct work.
Electrical: Outlets and switches need to all be tied together (wires are run already), run cat 5 and coax to rooms.

That's the brunt of what I could use some help with if someone has a spare hour or two any of this week's weekday evenings.

Anyone in for pizza or BBQ to help out? :)

I'm leaving town Friday and busy all week because of it. Otherwise I would take car of all of your framing for you. If I have any time open up I'll let you know.

Cascadia, if you can swing it that'd be awesome.

Shane/Kurt others, tomorrow or Wednesday afternoon/evening work? Realistically I'll be working on it every night this week so Sheetrock is good to go by Saturday.

I could do tomorrow evening, I've got to swing some diffs/lockers out to Carl and could swing by after. What tools do you need? My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools. ;)

Perfect.. I've got everything needed for framing.. Lazer guided/heat seaking table saw, nail gun, air compressor, lumber.. Maybe bring your favorite hammer. :)

Wiring overwhelms me.. John Hall is helping me with the larger wiring issues, such as drilling holes in my exterior wall to run 9" aluminum starship grade wire from the main to aux load center. But anyone willing to get the outlets wired up may want to bring their favorite strippers.. Electrical wire strippers that is.

Wiring the outlets will all happen after the sheetrock is on, you'll just pull all the wires through the boxes for now. I'd be happy to help you with that stuff after all the hard work is done. :greg:

I was told its best to wire them all together and only install/test the outlet on the end of the circuit before Sheetrock. Shoul I not bother with it?

I'm sure that's good testing, but that's just testing the wire--you won't be installing outlets/switches/lights until you're done. (with the exception of the end one that you'll test with--then you'll remove it so it's not in the way of your sheetrock)

I wouldn't wire the plugs and everything up either, I would make sure your boxes are the proper depth and walk around with a video camera or take lots of pictures before the sheetrock is on. I've been working on my basement and the sheet rockers didn't cut out a box for one of my lights. Going off memory we put a few holes in the ceiling before finding a metal detector and finding it that way. (Thank goodness I used metal boxes). The box they didn't cut out was set further in than it should have and I think if it would have been proper depth thehy would have noticed it and cut it out.

I can't offer much help, but I do have a nice Senco framing nailer you are welcome to use if it will help.

SAMI, your basement is going to turn out great. How much more did you & Kurt get done after I left?

Thanks for the help last night guys... Shane, I'd love to have you over for Sheetrocking if you can swing it; at the very least snag the rotozip from you. ;)

Kurt and I knocked out the smaller arch in the main room, and started in on the fur down on the ductwork.

Tonight I plan to pull more Cat5/coax, install another light in the main room, bathroom pooper fan/light and route vent tubing, and continue fur down over duct work.
