Batteries...what's good these days

We ditched interstate all together at my location for work almost 2 years ago. We had way to many premature failures, some as little as 5-6 months. We now use Batteries Plus and NAPA depending on time constraints and location.

For what it's worth, NAPA and Duralast have been good to me recently, AGM or otherwise.

I've kinda stopped buying AGM. I haven't killed a quality SLA (that wasn't my fault anyway) for years now.

Ummm.... Maybe. AGM didn't play in Cindy's JLU. @bryson is good at explaining it, I'm not. But basically, the AGM wants a higher charge voltage than the computer in our JL will give it and so it never gets a full charge in regular driving.

Have a barely used Odyssey I ended up replacing with a plain old SLA and it's been smooth sailing ever since. If anyone is interested in a barely used Odyssey at a decent price.

But, I dunno, what I dunno.

I picked up a little diode thingy that goes in the alternator fuse slot and is supposed to boost the voltage to make the AGM happy. But I haven't been running AGM, so I don't know if it works or not. Maybe that's an option in the JLU though?

Never put a multi meter on while running, but according to the dash I’m getting 14.4-14.6 while running.

But I had this same issue in the wife’s FJ went back to SLA in that.

I did a similar thing with the Armada, but with mine all I had to do was unclip a harness connector at the battery and it stopped varying the voltage and now puts out a consistent 14.4 V.
