Okay I have a question for you guys. I need a new set of tires to take to EJS. I have been looking at the BFG KM2's or the Blue Label Krawlers. It is not my daily driver and it sees as much off road as it does on the street. What are your opinions on both of them.
Thanks in advance

The KM2's I've been around have performed impressively in my observations. I haven't been around krawlers to compare to however.

I loved my KM2's. Performed great off-road, but still fairly quiet on the street. I'll be running KM2's from now on.

I'd go with the krawlers, my old man has 37's on his jeep and they do great. Plus IMO they look better. They aren't noisy on the street either:)

I have KM2's on the FZJ and they really bite into the ground when offroad. It's impressive how much they claw. I think they will do well in the rocks too, better than expected for a street tire. Their road manners are not bad, you can feel/hear the lugs when coming to a stop. My biggest gripe is the lack of lateral stability in mud or snow. They tend to slip sideways real easy, IMO. I'm going to run them until they're bald, if that says anything.

I've had KM2's on my Cherokee since October and have put about 3,000 miles on them using it as a daily driver. Right now I drive 60 mile round trips on I-15 and before I was doing 120 mile round trips on I-80. I've had them out in the west desert in Death Canyon, Rock Canyon, along the side roads off Erickson Pass and down around Desert Mt.
They are wearing good and have been good on the highway and good on the areas off road that I've had them but I will be getting more time offroad soon. :D

I loved my 35" krawlers. They were lightyears ahead of the MTRs I replaced and behaved quite well for an aggressive tire. Lucky for you, I have a set im not using;)

Yeah pretty substantial. I have also been looking at the new Goodyear MT/R Kevlar. They seem to be pretty sweet.

Just an FYI, I was in Discount Tire today in Lindon attempting to buy some 35x12.5R15 KM2's, and was told they're on national back order. It may be 3-6 months before they're available again. :(

And I can beat most tire shops pricing aswell.
PM me for a price.

37's
BF Goodrich Krawler T/A--------37/12.50R17--------81.50 lbs
BF Goodrich M/T--------37x12.50R17--------69.72 lbs

i know you are going with 35's but i wonder if the weight differance is as drastic in the 35's as well?

35" BF Goodrich Krawler T/A = 74 lbs (actual height = 34.5")
35" BF Goodrich KM2's = 61 lbs (actual height = 34.8")
35" Goodyear MTR/K = 67 lbs (actual height = 34.8")

Okay I have another question for you guys. Yes it's true I have the tiny 4 banger in my jeep, laugh away I know it's ridiculous. I am running 35" tires right now w/ 4.88's and it does ok on the road if I am not in a big hurry.

So I have done some research and found out that my current 35" xterrains weigh 65 lbs. a piece. I have also been looking at the 36"x13.5x15 Irok's and found that they weigh 66 lbs a piece. So my question is this, if I went to the 36" tire that weighs 1 lb. more what will the big deal be. Is it going to be harder for the banger to push them or will 1 lb. not make that big of difference. Or will the surface area of the tire create a whole new animal for the banger to have to push?
Any thoughts or suggestions.

You especially don't want an IROK with a 4cyl.

It has been scientifically proven that IROKs produce enough suck to actually cause a rift in the space/time continuum. Iroks require massive amounts of wheelspeed to gain any sort of traction advantage over the common RV tire. Your 4cyl does not have enough power to turn the tires and if you add enough gear reduction to do so, you'll run out of engine too quickly.

It's a 4cyl, so it will suck on the highway no matter what. With enough gear reduction, it will be livable in the rocks. The xterrain is also a lackluster tire as well. You'll be very happy with a 35 MTR, KM2, or Krawler and a low gearset in the Tcase.

Bottom line: If you are underpowered, you'll always be better off putting money into a sticky tire that can crawl an obstacle, rather than blowing up parts trying to bash your way up.
