Gonna have to bust it out to get it down to Johnson Valley next week.

Unfortunately I had to cancel the trip. It would be cutting it too close to haul it all the way out there untested. After Jack is done with it next week I am sending it back over to BHR to have them make sure it is all ready for some spring/summer fun. Guess I will just have to head down to EJS and have some fun there.

Bummer, was looking forward to meeting you. See you and EJS.

We have not put up pictures in a couple of days, we have it in primer and we are blocking it out again right now. We anticipate shooting color as soon as tomorrow.

Thanks

looks good but, isn't that a little bit of a dark primer for spraying a light blue base coat?

And FWIW, just thought that you guys at JKC (being a body shop) might find this pretty cool too, its my brothers FJ40 that has a Chevrolet Tailgate skin replacing the rear of the cruiser body. It was done because it has a chevy drivetrain.. pretty cool imho.

*and p.s. thanks whoever edited this and changed it to an IMG tag haha  ... I just figured it would be better as an URL tag as to not hi-jack the bhr thread but thats okay ha.

That looks like a fun rig. The Tailgate should maybe say Chevyota? Looks nice though.

Well actually thats funny you said that because for christmas I had the sticker place at the mall make a custom sticker like this one for his windshield.. Its about 3.5 inches tall and about 3 feet long.

In real life the sticker colors are different, (I just made this picture in MSN paint), The black chevy part is a copperish gold color (closest match to the body color they had).. and the red toyota part is actually silver... its pretty cool.

ha yeah that BHR rig is pretty sweet thats a lot of work into the body.. My brother already put a big dent in the passenger side of his on Coyote Canyon just before it closed.. now that was a fun ride :D

(oh and p.s. sorry for the mini hi-jack von!)

You use the black primer to make insure that the bodywork is flawless. For collision jobs you use guide coat, but when you wipe down the black primer after it's blocked, you can see every imperfection. The sealer is white.

Where's some blue!

Funny you should ask. Got it mixed today. We have spent the last couple of days trying to get everything booth ready, we have an opening monday and tuesday to get the majority of it painted. We still have a little bit of blocking to do, but for the most part we are ready to spray. It's hard for us this time of year because we are scheduling insurance work 2 weeks out, so we have cleared a couple of days to shoot it.
More progress pics from the last few days:
