Get it vinyl wrapped. Do the sides body color, if you're worried about temperatures inside have something reflective put on top.

I'm with Bryson, bedliner is the way to go. Much easier to make it look nice than rattlecan or rolling on paint, and if you want color matched instead of black you can get it tinted. I just rolled Als Liner onto my tonneau, if I had to do it again I'd spray it so it'd have less texture. Or even order up the vinyl flattener stuff. But I'll use it again for sure, it was super easy to put on even in 30 deg temps.

I'm looking for a cheap alternative. If this shell was the one Id keep for the life of the vehicle it be different and I'd get it color matched but it is probably if I had to guess 8 to 10 years old. I'm it's third owner that I know of could have been more.

I would paint it so it's easier on the eyes. looking to sell it in a year or two. Or if I find a used color matched one it's coming off.
I wonder if plasti dip would cover the white and then when I'm done, take the dip off and go back to white...
I just don't think plasti dip is a long term paint. But I could be wrong. And I want to wash it in a car wash. I don't think my wrapped van at work is allowed to go through car washes.

I'm really impressed with bryson's bedlined 80 series, it looks great. If it's easier than a foam roller, I say go for it!

its been a minute, not much progress on the truck. i plasti-dipped the shell black, it was ok, but it let in a lot of dirt still. my brother in law has it on his truck now and im borrowing this... ARB Tent.jpg

Allpro APEX extreme sliders.
Also installed 3" lift just waiting on discount for some goodies to come in.

Details about lift; pucks up front hybrid leafs in back. Still need more rear lift, these measurements are without the tent.

Should have wheels and tires mounted next weekend. Just waiting for them to come in. I forget how expensive these trucks become!

i like it. i have some trimming to address up in the front on the mud flaps but it wasnt anything i was shocked by. i knew it would rub. tires are quite, no different than my stockers. speedo is off by about 4mph at 70. sits at about 2k rpm at 70 as well.

I went with the 285/75R16 BFG KO2's with Level 8 Guardian wheels. They fit Great! i only have about an 1/8" of the upper tire tread uncovered, if that. ill get better pictures soon.

but i am pretty stoked on it. Thanks Steve!

now we just need to black out your grill and rear bumper. Hands down my favorite generation, color, and trim of any tacoma I've seen.

If you only have 53k miles on your tundra, that might be a long time! Atleast they'd be more affordable by then ha

It has been good to me so far. Thanks for the positive feedback guys!

Well, I bought it with 53k in january, it now has 73k. Before I bought I test drove a '15 and got my financing all lined up, and decided to go the economic route at the last minute. I still feel conflicted about that decision. I do love the lines on the '15's much more than the '16's, and I would hate to get too far down the road and be faced with a bunch of ugly new toyota offerings...
Perhaps you could upgrade to something else in about 3 years and pass that truck on down the road :)

I would put it back under there and get it up to running temp then feel the tire or throw a temp gauge on it. I dont think it will be an issue.
