Greg, you going to go clean up that mess?
Well, as well as I know the UP, my vote is for "track-caused".Greg said:Depends on the condition of the ties... Wonder if it was track-caused, poor train handling or ... ?

Can't find a link. Saw it on channel 4. Two trains passing, one derailed and hit the other. No one hurt, but a whole bunch of coal cars all wadded up. They said there was radio communication between the two trains that mentioned a broken rail. Track closed, Amtrak not going to Denver tonight. Was that your run, TRNDRVR?
The story is posted on KSL now.

What night was that? We were driving to Moab Thursday night and on a cloudless evening something produced enough dust/smoke or something to cover most of the sky, pretty impressive. It seemed to be coming from north west of Price. Is that the area of the derailment? I could not belive the junk in the air. I thgouth we were going drive into it but 6 went around it.
I guess that wasn't the one. I wounder what all the smoke/dust was we saw then....
