From what I understand from my friend, he does not run the blend. It is used grease, methenol, and lye to adjust the Ph level, from what I remember. He generally spends one day a week and goes to pick up used grease (Sundays), and will pick up generally around 6-55 gallon drums of the stuff. He makes about 70 gallons a day.

About the cost issue and your time being worth something. He makes a batch every night when he gets home from work, lets it do its thing overnight, and empties the batch in the afternoon when he gets home. So all in all it takes him to actually make it, about 1.5 hours a day. Not a bad trade if you ask me. He enjoys it to.

I know it seems like allot of work, but to each their own.

If you have any particular questions I can ask him for ya...

Ok, he runs the straight stuff, cool. I was wondering how it was so cheap.

Can he start up his vehicle on straight biodiesel? I thought I heard somewhere that it was difficult to get a rig to start up using biodiesel. Kurt once said Andre had one tank of regular diesel and another of biodiesel. I'd really like to hear from Andre, he seems to be very involved with this stuff.

Is your friend running his homebrew biodiesel in a Cummins?

Yes it is in a Cummins. I don't know of any problems he has with starting. I would imagine that only in the cold months would it be bad. I guess he will find out shortly...

greasecar.com sells kits to run vegi oil too. Bio and vegi oil are two different animals. With vegi you have to start your rig on diesel until it warms up then switch to vegi, then back again before you shut it down to purge the fuel system. This would be to much of a hassle for short trips. But for hic's semi I'd think it would work great. I was thinking about doing this. Then I got the chance to get a rice burner for 300 bucks. Gets 50 miles to the gallon. :D Now I'm in the process of beef,n up the roof so I can mount a gooseneck ball to it. Might have to gear down a little on the hills with the twenty seven foot trailer w/two trucks on it, since it only has a three cylinder that is only one seventh the size of my powerstroke.

Anybody know what they charge per gallon?

my sisters boyfriend just bought from them on thursday and it was $2.90 while straight petro was $3.00...he also said after a trip to Bear Lake and back he didn't get nearly as good of mileage as he does with straight petro. I think the vegi oil is the key in getting it cheap.

as for the starting problems I thought I read somewhere that guys were running some kind of a pre-heater and that made it so they did not have to run any diesel at all. (maybe I'm not remembering correct???)
