You should come with us to cedar city in a couple weeks then again like they said to delta on the 4th. Plus delta is only 2 hours away, and can mess you up. :D

yep, I have been riding quads for about 13 years and love them. This year we took the bikes up to the uintas for about a week. 300 miles later they were parked and I can't bring myself to breaking them out again.

I really hate to say it, but I have been boating most of the summer and just have had the best time. I said that I would never buy a boat.... but I did and have caught more fish than one could imagin!!!! This whole tubing thing ROCKS... Next year I might try wake boarding...

Wheeling has taken a back seat and it pisses me off! I spent 6 months building the cruiser and wheeled it twice this last summer.

I've had the same problem for a couple years now:confused: I just don't have any motivation to work on my rig. I've completely re-done my back yard this summer, I shoot guns and hunt alot, and I've fished a ton all summer and really enjoyed all of it. Maybe I should sell the runner and buy a newer boat... I did buy some nice downriggers for my old boat and caught this:cool:

X2 on the boat thing I spent way to much money on gas in the boat this summer....Oh but it was worth it.

I've been thinking the same things Shawn... I went and looked at some 4x4 ATV's today. Seems they are just easier to take out and they seem to have less upkeep. I have a sport quad and love going to the dunes, but I'm thinking of selling my Jeep and getting a 4x4 quad for the mtns.
Plus, I work weekends ALOT, and alot of the guys I work with have quads but none have crawlers/jeeps.

Hell YA!!! Nice fishy!!!! Where?

Stawberry has been good to me this summer. The downriggers have yet to pay off though.

The boat fuel has been a pocket drainer...... Now gas prices are just right, good thing I parked the boat....:-\

This is really where I think I am right now. The build up on the cruiser just killed me. I worked on it everyday, every weekend, every free minute. I enjoyed it, but in the end it fried me. It took me a month and a half to outboard the rear springs and install a gas tank in the Commando because I didn't want to work on it.

Friends keep asking me for help and I keep telling them no, I just don't want to do it.... I hope my tude changes soon because I really enjoy fabbing.
wow, that sounds all too familiar. I have a virgin TJ sitting in my garage that NEVER gets driven. I bought it to build a mild trail rig that's street legal and I can't even bring myself to do much of anything on it. It's not even a money issue, just a motivation issue :( I've only driven it maybe 3,000 miles since I bought it. I'm tempted to sell it but at the same time I can't bring myself to do it.

I'm not giving up... but I went from wheeling 4 times a week down to 3 times a year.

And I know how you feel. I miss the fresh air of where I'm from. People joke about getting black lung from coal country... it's more of a reality up here.

I just recently came to a realization that took me from hating everything/one I see when I go out the door to greeting the world with an eerie grin when I go out side.....

As most of you know, I got really burned out on my Toyota Truggy project. Way too much time & effort that didn't seem like it would have the desired results are what got me. I never got it together, so I didn't even make it as far as Shawn & Caleb with their buildups. I did get to experience the long drawn-out build, which soured the whole wheelin thing for me. After some time, moving around & some major changes in my life, we bought the XJ as Catherines DD. I wheeled that thing with stock gears, opened diffs & 33's and it made me want the motivation to finish the 4Runner, which wasn't really ever that far from being done.

Now the 4Runner is more or less done and it's nothing fancy. Stock Toyota drivetrain, full body, old-school leafsprings, a crappy Dana 44 in front and you know what? I enjoy the hell out of that thing! It's old technology, nothing trick about it, but it's great fun to take out on the trail. I like wheelin it, even though it isn't tubed out, doesn't have a V8 or 60's or an Atlas.

Mabey you do need some time off Shawn, enjoy the stuff you want to do. Then when you're ready, do like Jeremy said... start wheelin the Commando. Mabey it'll make you want to be behind the wheel of the Cruiser once again.

I hate working on anything. Everyone knows it. I need a rig that I don't have to be constantly repairing, and now that I can't drop it off at RL and have them do all the maintenance out of their pitty and boredom it's more difficult.

As long as I stay away from the trail I do ok. Once I'm around the trail I really start getting the bug. I thought buying this weekend warrior ZJ would help quench the thirst, but it just made it worse watching Kelly and all the other buggy guys play on the fun lines.....really made it worse.

I think that is exactly where I am at. I have not been on a trail ride in a long time. We ran the quads down in Moab in february I think...maybe January...anyway it was a blast. We did hells revenge and Kane Creek and I will tell ya...Kane creek is a blast when you do the stream crossings on 3 inches of ice...what a ride.

I hate wrenching on stuff these days. My last toyota project that I sold for a complete loss sucked the life right out of me after chasing gremlins for months on end. I topped it off by pushing the broken rig 4 miles at 3am just to punish myself for taking on such a project and farkin it up so badly.

That is why I am looking at an FJ or a Rubicon. Rocker protection and leave it the hell alone. I am sick of the wrenches. I am sick of things breaking.

I'm starting to feel the same I've been working on my Samruai for over 2 years, I'd get it done enough to take it out then find something else that needs to be done. It has taken alot of $$$$ out of my pocket that dosen't make my wife happy either. She wants me to sell the Samurai, and get a EB, scout, or cruiser. I just can't bring my self to sell it but if someone gave me enough I would sell it or part it out i think. Then put that money into another rig. I wish I would have left it street legal so I could still drive it around atleast if not out on the trails. I also hate seeing you guy's going out on trails, and I can't.:(

You're in the same boat I was a couple years ago. Last time I took the Toy out, as usual I did a little damage to it. It sat on the trailer for a year and needed an hours worth of repairs on it. I just got burned out on turning wrenches.

When gas hit $3, I decided I was going to fix the old girl up, and start commuting with it. Pulled it off the trailer, and quickly remembered how street friendly a spool and beadlocks were. Time to bag that idea. Now I need a commuter. Looked at a few imports, then it dawned on me......

Hey stupid, you used to drive a CJ everyday! The search was on!

Got the LJ, and I've got to say I've wheeled more the last three months than I did in the last 3 years. It's a decent commuter, and a great trail rig. Granted, I won't be doing the really tough stuff anymore (well, not for a few years), but I've discovered even a 3 rated trail beats the hell out of life here in the city! Sometimes you just have to take your lumps. Sell it all, and start over fresh.

I'm now quad-less and Yoda-less (the Harley's are a must though), and enjoying life more than ever!

Wow, I can't say I have every been burned out on wheeling... though the wrenching aspect of things does seem to get a bit old. Even worse when I talk on the phone with customers all day about wheeling/wrenching... But truly I'm not in it for the actual "wheeling" persay, but rather the destination. Combine multiple activites into a trip. Candace and I like to hike... so we will go wheeling to a hiking area. We took a day off in Moab last year to go on a river trip, then did some night wheeling. We have really gotten into the multi-day camping, cooking, etc that adds some fun to the trip. The history of the trail and the areas I (we) explore really adds to the excitement more than anything... I would rather do a 3 rated trail to an old cabin or mine than a 4+ trail that is going to take an entire day to go 5 miles. I figure I work with 4x4's all day, the U4, I was competing and still getting out on the trail quite a bit... If I'm not burned out yet I must like it

Maybe if I combined curts outlook with my planned sojourns, I could get the wife interested.

Sucks pulling teeth just to take a trail ride, and divorce can be so costly.
