With all of the new powder on Xmas, I wanted to go snow wheelin. I gave pretty short notice on a Monday, so my companions ended up being sourced from a Facebook group I'm part of.
We met at the 5 mile pass main parking area. After a short discussion, we decided to head toward Black Rock Canyon.

We made our way to the base of the Canyon and stopped to air down, pee, and let the dogs run.

After cruising up the Canyon, the snow got deeper. I led the group, so I stopped at the first clearing to make sure everyone was still making progress, as the two Toyotas were bone stock with street tires.

The Toyotas were struggling, but making it. I continued up the canyon until I came across some deep, snow filled ruts. My Jeep struggled some with these, until I realized... Duh, you need to be in 4 low for the lockers to engage. Solving that dumbtard moment, I continued on up the canyon.

About a half mile further up, I realized I was alone. Stop. Listen. Nobody near.

I turned around and headed back down to find the 4Runner high centered in the deep ruts.

Once the Tacoma tugged the 4Runner free, we turned around and headed back down.

A bit short, but still a great day to get out.
