BLM's Utah Statewide Resource Advisory Council/Recreation Resource Advisory Council to Meet
Salt Lake City--The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Utah Resource Advisory Council (RAC)/Recreation Resource Advisory Council (RRAC) will meet August 7-8 2012, in St. George, Utah.
The RAC/RRAC meeting will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn, 1731 South Convention Center Drive, Indigo Conference Room (main level), St. George, Utah.
On August 7, the Utah RAC will meet from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., to discuss the RS 2477 road issue; receive updates on the Cedar City/St. George Resource Management Plan (RMP); given a presentation on a progress report on the Sage Grouse instruction memorandum; receive an overview on the Lake Mountain Urban Interface Conflict, and receive updates/progress/challenges and lessons learned on the Washington County Lands Bill.
On August 8, from 7:30 a.m. until noon, a field tour of the Northern Transportation Route will take place. The RAC will tour the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area (NCA) to look at the area where alternative alignments for the Northern Transportation Route have been proposed to BLM by Washington County to be evaluated in the RMP being developed for the NCAs. Members of the public are invited to participate on the tour; however, you must provide your own transportation and meals. Appropriate vehicles for bladed and two-tracked roads are recommended. Those attending the field tour are to meet in the lobby of the Hilton Garden Inn no later than 7:15 a.m. for departure at 7:30 a.m.
After the field tour, 12:30 p.m., the RRAC business meeting will continue at the Hilton Garden Inn. Planned agenda topics include a presentation on a fee proposal to increase campground fees within the Moab Field Office and a fee program update from the Dixie National Forest.
A half-hour public comment period, where the public may address the Council, is scheduled from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. All meetings are open to the public. Written comments may be sent to the Bureau of Land Management, ATTN: Sherry Foot, 440 West 200 South, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84101.
After the public comment period, the members of the RRAC will cast their votes on the Moab fee proposal.
