Bloated muffler

I had dual exhaust put on the buggy just before Thanksgiving. I did wheel with it a couple of times before adding rocker panels over the mufflers, and did scratch both of them, but not bad. I pulled the rockers off today to make the new wiring easier and my driver side muffler is bloated and looks like it was plugged. I remember it running bad a couple of time in JV, but thought it was fuel. Could a small scratch really make the inside of the muffler break enough to plug it? I'm baffled. It doesn't feel plugged now.

Any chance it had water in it that froze?

I don't know, but I had a severe power loss with my ZJ a couple weeks back. Pulled the muffler and it was choked up. Threw on a Cherry Bomb turbo muff (not a glasspack) and its all good again.

i used to see that alot when cars would back fire normaly it was an older muffler that would do that but you never know

No, don't think water could get in it. No backfiring. This was brand new muffler with about 15 hours on it.

I'll bet you had a baffle break loose, and temporarily block the exhuast flow off causing the damage (the Flowmaster on my truck has this issue). Bad part is, sooner or later it will block off that flow again.
