I called Russ's and they quoted me $3,500 for a paint job. Maybe they thought I wanted a full blown painting when I really wanted a quicky Earl Schibe job.

I'm betting he did.
Best bet is to go out there and tell him exactly what you want. I know he's had a couple of people go in in the past asking for the el cheapo, and then pick it apart when it wasn't perfect. He might not want to do el cheapos anymore just due to the PITA factor.
Anyway, he's painted a bunch of stuff for me, and restored my dads truck after a partial roll. He's been great on prices for us, and has always done killer work

Cool maybe when it gets warmer I'll drive by and let them look at it. I'd be happy with a decent paint job... no need of a fantastic one since its going to get scratched up. Is there anyone I should speak to in particular?

I can also vouch for Russ he paints all of our company vans and does awsome work. I'm sure he can work with you but yeah your best bet is to just go down there with your ride and talk to him.
