Gaining Lean tissue can be harder than losing fat. I have studied that quite a bit too, and it seems that the average person who eats right, lifts right, and consumes the right supplements can only gain apx 2-3- pounds of lean mass a month. Thats hours and hours at the gym, 3000-7000 calories a day, and supplements, and 3 net pounds! Man that is commitment.

As far as women losing fat, that has to be the toughest task of all. That is another area of information I have been studying. I wont bore you to death with too much of that but studies have advised it is apx 4-8 times harder for women to lose weight than men. Testosterone, Estrogen, Age, and Metabolic make up are all completely different. Man has historically been Hunter/Provider, and women have historically been Homemaker/Mother. Men are built to burn fat, and build muscle and women are designed to carry babies, and provide nourishment. Men produce Iron naturally, women cant, and the iron they do get from foods, is lost through their monthly cycle. In order to properly prepare their bodies to carry young, they produce and hold on to fat like crazy so their bodies can use fat for energy, and create breast milk. Then that "time of the month" their hormones, and fat cells, and pretty much their whole body goes into crisis mode and this happens naturally once a month! It is crazy. I dont go to the gym if I have sore muscles, or a headache, I couldnt imagine what they are going through during that time, but the gym would be the last thing on my mind.

I really do have a deep understanding and respect for women who struggle with their weight. Not the ones who secretly binge on Costco quantities of twinkies, but the ones who do watch their caloric intake, while trying to provide nourishment and compasion for offspring, significant other, etc.

Genetics, Science, etc. can be a mother focker.

Yeesh. Now I know why I constantly struggle with hanging out on the north shore of portly. That's all very interesting though. It's nice to hear the reasons why my body likes holding onto to those extra pounds.

Thank you again. I am a total nerd on the subject now. For whatever reason, if I get into a hobby or find interest in something I think I have to dissect it and know everything about it. I guess its just the engineer in me. I cant be happy knowing that the bridge wont fall down, I want to know who built it, how it was built, who inspected it, when was its last inspection, when is its next inspection, blah blah blah. Sometimes I wish I could just turn it all off. LOL!
