Is it worth the trouble?

I may need to do a quick rebuild on this here TreeFiddy. :( Rather not wait for the machine shop if I can avoid it.

it really depends on how far you need to hone it... I have only ever used a bottle brush hone to get a good crosshatch in a cylinder so it would break in well.. do you know how far out you are? you could use a regular flat Hone to true everything up but it takes a while...

What Brett said. Don't use anything else, any issues with the cylinder walls will be hidden with that. If I get off my butt, and you ask, I could probably find mine for ya.

I'm hoping I just need to crosshatch the cylinders... for the nice new rings I"m hoping I can toss in there.

Otherwise I'll just work on the 454 and deal with the lack of power and the oil consumption. :D

oops, replied too soon

I'd take a good hard look at the cylinders before I did anything. If they're bad enough that a bottle brush won't help it, the engine's coming out for the..
