Brake lines alternatives

A while ago I was reading about some kind of quality plastic (not sure what kind) brake line that was flexible, safe, easy to make and route. Further reading that it was used in many applications safely but I doubt it was approved for highway use.

Anybody know what I'm talking about or have any experience with it? There was a good thread on Pirate about it a while ago but I can't find it anymore.

Here's some nylon lines, but I swear the ones I read about were not "nylon"...?

I've seen a few comp rigs using that nylon stuff...it always made me nervous, but I never noticed it fail where a different line would have survived. (knuckle breaking off and taking the brake line with it....)

I would worry about heat and abrasion more with that than normalness, but if you're careful with routing and carry enough spare parts to trail-repair it, I think you'd be OK>

I had seen it allot on the lighter sand cars, I thought they could get away with it because of the light weight of the car and being used on sand. Im fairly sure it was nylon lines.

Seems interesting... I don't have any real input, but an alternative to the bending/flaring/leaking I've been dealing with this week would be worth looking into

No kidding. I'm more interested in the simplicity of running 1 line from the frame jumped down to the control arm, jumped again at the axle and once more over to the caliper. I really don't want to have to run 3 flexible lines for each run of brake line. One straight shot would be awesome.

Good call.

Mine is just setup with a center flex-line to a T, then steel line out, and stock flex lines at the calipers. All of my flex lines are stock parts for easy replacement.
