I saw the Monster Box a EJS and spoke with the guys for awhile. Very beffy, about the size of a 205 but short like a D300. However, about $2800 clams with unprovern performance as of yet and with unkown customer support and company longevity. I would like to see them offer the overdrive version with about a 3.25 low range.

It looks to me like they have just bolted the Klune-V to the front on a regular Atlas.

Almost... but the first reduction section is shorter than the klune.

I still think if I really ever needed that much of a low gear, I would go with the atlas. But I just can't vision needing a lower gear than my current 4:1 atlas.

I have a 4:1 in my D300 and its plenty low but I would trade it in a second for the option of a 3:1 and a 5:1.

The Atlas 4 speed with a low low low of 10:1 seems silly.

I still think that the 203/205 setup is better for non buggy non tj apps. (actually probably just for full size apps...)

I instaled and purchased all the parts for my 203/205 for under $1000 including driveshaft mods. it is stronger than an atlas and i can get parts at napa. there is a 3:1 kit avalible for the 203 as well but it is like $1000. with the 3:1 kit it would give you twinsticked 2:1, 3:1, and 6:1 in the cases. you could also stack 203's in front of the 205 until you run out of rear driveshaft. you can run it divorced just like the atlas. I love my 2:1 and 4:1. I do run a 7.5L and a np435 4spd (6.69:1 first gear) with no over drive and 3.55's in the axles i am at about 2300rpm at 70mph on 37 inch goodyears, and on the other end i am at 90ish:1 crawl ratio. on the trail I am usally in rear wheel drive with the 205 in low(2:1) and the 203 in high(1:1) then when i get to an obstical i go front and rear 4:1(double low as i like to say). I am also a manual tranny guy and like to bang gears so i like having 3 tcase sticks in my floor.

I am thinking about building up a small full width truck i was thinking of doing a 6:1 divorced atlas but by the time i had something strong enough for 40 inch rubber it was $3500. wheel base is not an issue so it came down to adding 100lbs and saving $1500 (if i do the 3:1 kit in the 203) (as it sits now i want a 90ish s10 with a 4.3L and a/c. i will install a sm465, np203, ford 205, d60, (from my bronco, buy a d44 for my bronco) gm 14 bolt and tow it with what is left of my bronco.

the 203/205 is longer and 100lbs heavier than an atlas but there is always a trade off for strength.

I saw the new Atlas yesterday....with the short out put, it is only slightly longer than the standard atlas. Confirmed that it does use the 2410 6 gear planetary. Similar to adding a Klune to an atlas, but much shorter due to custom machine work....Have pics soon. ;)

Operation:
Since the 4SP has a reduction housing in front of the main case, each low range is controlled independently from the other. The front reduction unit can be selected to “low” and the main case selected in “high” giving a 2.72 reduction.
The main case can have one of two different low range ratios. The current prototype is a 3.8 reduction, and we will also be offering a 2.0 for the production units. When the front housing is in “high” range and the main case is in “low”, our prototype has a 3.8 reduction. For the ultimate low, run both the front housing and the main case in low range to give you a 10.3 reduction! With the ability to run three seperate low range options, one vehicle can be well suited to run sand, mud, trail, and super low rock crawling.
Strength:
The strength of this unit is not an issue. Advance Adapters uses a planetary assembly that was originally run in a NP241-HD transfer case. This assembly has been rated to withstand 5,555 ft./lbs. of torque, and up to 11,000 lbs. gross vehicle weight. The six planetary setup has proven its durability and has been used in countless heavy-duty vehicles. Other attributes to the planetary assembly include a very quiet operation, easy shifting, and low rolling resistance. When all of this is put in front of a legendary Atlas Transfer Case, you get the best combination of gear
ratios and reliability.
