I need some Cherokee help!

Buddy x bought a 91 for next to nothing, runs great but need some rear axel work.. all bearings are bad..

Should I:
1 rebuild
2 replace with working used
3 look for 44 or something to that effect..

Goal is to spend as little as possible!

ANY IMPUT WOULD BE GREAT!

Replace it. You should be able to find a cheaper 8.25. If possible get a 97+ one. They are 29 spline where as 96 and lower are 27 spline. The 27 spline is still a good axle though and if it is the one you find I would still get it. If you end up junkyard shopping, you can also look for the rear disks off of a ZJ to slap on the 8.25 pretty easy.

If you change from a Dana 35, whatever you do, make sure you grab the correct driveshaft to go along with it too.

There are length issues that go with different rearends.
