I and some of my neighbors don't have access to broadband or dsl. We hooked up with teamwifi and there service seems pretty decent. They tried upgrading some equipment in september, but that backfired on them. So there was a 3 week period of shotty service :mad2: , but it looks like they got it all figured out. Haven't had any problems with them since. :D :p

Check out there site at teamwifi.net. I think they have there phone number on there website. Anyways, hope this helps you out. :greg:

wow, thats the most expensive service (for what you get) I have seen. I'll stick to my $60/month bill rather than paying $80/month and getting only a fraction of the speed :D

I only pay $50 a month for my comcast. That includes Cable and Internet $30 for cable including all premium channels and $20 for internet. You all are getting raped paying $60 or more.

Its good for a year! and then I have been told to tell them I am cancelling and they will keep it at that price. It worked for my parents! and it worked when I moved. They will do anything to keep customers!

You share your neighbors wifi right?
So what kind of antennas and you and your neighbor using?

I have a 7dB gain antenna mounted on the freeze board of my gabble. It covers the neighbors (laptop) to the west really well (no charge, access to skidsteer, snowmobiles, ect..). It also covers the house across the street to the south (6 lbs of hamburger/month) using a linksys WRT54G with standard antenna. The only other person I currently have hooked up is 2 blocks north across hunter pall park, the remote in this case uses a 14dB panel type directional antenna mounted inside the gabble end.
No I'm going through a a wireless ISP.
Here's the link for who I use: http://rapidwave.net/index.html

Just checked my speeds and they are:
2005-12-28 18:29:00 EST: 1790 / 1288
Your download speed : 1790 kbps or 223.7 KB/sec.
Your upload speed : 1288 kbps or 161 KB/sec.

I've done similar. My last 3 months are coming up in Feb. I'll be looking at other options pretty carefully. The thing that bugs me about Comcast is they keep upgrading the bandwidth (that I really don't care about) and don't offer a cheaper solution. For $65 per month, I get expanded basic cable and 4 meg ISP (it might be 6 by now, but I don't care).

I'm about to bag the whole cable/internet deal anyway. The TV channels are all a bunch of useless, mindless drivel (for the most part).

FWIW, if qwest dsl is available to you then you can get DSL form just about anyone.....

Until November 16th 2006, the FCC just changed some rules and the telcos will no longer have to share... this should see some major roll out in dsl equipment

yep...If I'm still out here I'm hoping some other company picks-up our area :D (qwest keeps promising but nothing ever happens, so till someone else comes into the market out here Comcast has a Monopoly :( )

Bluezone has been great since they offered service in my neighborhood about 3 months ago. I got the middle price package at about $20.00 a month and it has been great, no problems. It's as fast as I need it to be.

Not gunna happen, unless it's Sprint. The little companies don't have the money. Hell Qwest doesn't either, that's why they are in bed with M$. Ole Bill is buying equipment for them.
Qwest is already offering 5Mb and even 7Mb in places, and in the next year or two they will be going to 25Mb

That old law is the reason you've been "about to get" DSL for so long.

Multi-path interferance it's not as easy as turning it on. at 7DB thats about 1/2 a watt Your range is about 440' at 36 DB it is a completely different ball game If You're going to do it right ---

if you wanted to re-sell what you already have a simple WIFI AP like a Dlink G700 AP works great. Generally there are provisions in a contract to limit this.

Never mind what I said Calab, looks like way has your back on the whole wisp thing.
