I went up providence canyon with some buddies and I was coming down a little section and my upper bracket for my 3 link ripped off the unibody. Anyone willing to burn the midnight oil with a welder and help out?

Can you get a trailer to where you are? What all is needed?

Any chance of posting some gps cords or something? I have no idea where you are. Near Logan I think.

Its south of Logan. No way anyone could get a trailer up then. I think I will have everything needed soon but any extra lighting and man power will help.

I was able to get a welder and a generator up to the truck. Took about two hours of hard work to get it drive able. The welds are hideous but made it back to school. When I have welding lab on Thursday I will clean it up and use a better welder to really get it on there. Definitely a stressful day.

I have seen this work as well.

Took a rig with a complete custom radius arm set up, he snapped one completely in half and we got him off Chinamen Gultch which is by no means an easy trail with nothing more than wally world ratchets straps.

Snapped a centering pin on a spring pack on another rig in the swell, in the water of all places at fuller bottom and got it out with nothing but ratchet straps.

Glad to see though you got it down

Problem with stick and XJs are that if it ripped off the frame side you are trying to weld to sheet metal. Stick is not the easiest when you are dealing with 14 gauge metal.

My buddy said something about the battery welding, but I had already had the generator and a welder, when I looked at the weld this morning it looked like it didn't really even penetrate. The welder only had two settings for power. I am definitely going to have someone who is efficient at welding do it next time.

Also I would look at ways to gusset it.

Here you go, for the next time someone in your group breaks something. Everyone has a battery and most everyone carries jumper cables. Throw an el cheapo HF helmet, some gloves and rods in your rig and you'll never have to leave your rig on the trail again. No need for a ready welder either

Did this on Pritchet a few years back thanks to the help of a couple RME'rs here on the board. Two batteries, welding rod and 3 pairs of sunglasses. Welded a part back together on my drive-line and drove out. Worked very well! I even ran a couple other trails on that same fix.
