So upon my return home I needed a vehicle, originally I was planning on getting a 90s Bronco and pumping it. But after some market place blunders and deep thinking I decided I wanted something more day to day friendly like a Silverado 1500 or a Denali, something common, easy to work on, easy to get parts for, decent on fuel, and usually pretty cheap.
So yeah I found a 2002 Avalanche 2500 with the 8.1L/496ci BBC. Had 153k miles, looked decent and didn’t seem to have any major issues. Minor wear n tear here n there but other than that it looked good!
Got it all loaded up and hauled butt home.
Been driving it around and getting a feel for it. Had some clunks etc so decided to cure that with some upgrades. Here’s a nice before the moelsting shot after a wash
Found that the front end had some steering play due tot eh common wear parts, idler and pitman arm, got them replaced with some moog components and upgraded the pathetic factory tierods with some kryptonite ends. Also added a second steering stabilizer in an opposing direction of the factory one. Topped it all off with a rough country 3” lift and M1 shocks
Also changed out the front axle driver side shaft seal and then changed the axle and tcase oils along with the fuel filter too. Added some flare to the rear thanks to Cory, gotta rock a MFL 14bolt cover if ya got a 14B and if ya don’t, you just ain’t cool.
I also added black rear lights to keep the full black on black on black going. Same with the new wheels n tires that are hopefully gonna get done tomorrow
Tech tip, I don’t care what brand of lights ya order, name brand or Amazon on sale specials. Take ten minutes and put some silicone around the edge where the lens meets the housing. I’ve don’t quite a few sets and each time I didn’t do this they always got water in them.
More to come over the next bit; wheels n tires, stereo, performance mods, etc.
