Bucket seats?!?

comanche man

Hello Neighbor
Ok, so, here's the problem. I really want bucket seats in my '89 comanche, instead of the bench. But, My question is what are the best seats to use for this? MY brother has a 1990 comanche that we got bucket seats put in, but they sit way to high for me. He's only 5'8, so they are perfect for me, but me being 6'1", My head is damn near hitting the roof.

I had a pair of leather buckets with butt warmers form a grand cherokee that I was going to have put in, but seeing the way that my bro's ended up going in, I'm kind of hesitent.

Here are my questions: Is there a way to mount them so they sit lower?

Or, as an alternate, do after market buckets tend to mount lower?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, what do you like? Cherokee seats are TALL. I swapped some in to my Blazer, not even thinking about the height at all, and they're a good 3" taller than the seats that were in it.

From what I have seen in a variety of different bucket seat installs into many different vehicles is that you have to custom make or modify the brackets they sit on. In my YJ i cut a few inches out of them the get the seat at the right height. If you figure out how high you want them to sit and then modify your brackets from there you should be ok.

My son's comanche buckets don't seem too high, maybe the brackets are a bit different than the xj ones but I would be surprised if they were. I could measure from the seat to the roof on his mj if that would help out.
