Yeah come on? Tacoma takes in the receipt for the suburbans oil change and I will give him 12 bucks in full stated value for insurance purposes

No, although I suspect a law for that is not too far around the corner.

some of the Idaho guys just keep the vin (any vin) on the tube somewhere and register it then insure it that way.

That practice can get you in big trouble all the way up to the federal level. I was going to go that route with my buggy, but my lawman neighbor strongly discouraged it.

Awhile back a 4x4 rolled on 21rd. Another party was outside her vehicle taking pictures and ended up under the vehicle that rolled. The result was a big law suite against the owner of the 4x4 that rolled. A situation like this is why I think its critical to have insurance.

I know we are loathe to keep them, but this company uses them to assess value for unusual and non-standard vehicles.

I tried on my buggy, but only one place would even give me a quote. And that was for like $900 a year.
