Buggy Build

Looks like it's 35 spline time! Along with a new nodular third.

He's actually wanting to replace what he has with the same thing, citing he's beat on that axle for a long time with no breakage.

My argument is that he's been babying it because of his front D44 that used to break all the time. Now he has a built HPD60 in the front and doesn't need to take it easy anymore.

He bought 31 spline replacment Yukon 1541 shafts from me today.... They're cheap. He already has another drop out and spool, so I guess I'll build him another drop out and see what happens. But I think if he kills it again, I will push more into the 35/40 spline shafts. Maybe even full float using 14 bolt spindle/hubs.

I predict you'll be building him another third member following this replacement. ;)

Man... THAT is how you break stuff! No messing around with little cracks or anything. Nice!!!

I think if we would have put it on the trailer after it broke, it wouldn't have been so bad. But after it broke is when he decided to launch it (in the above video).

I predict you'll be building him another third member following this replacement. ;)

Me too :D I believe he needs a nice race case, and at least 35 spline shafts if not 40. Either way it will have a spool or lincoln locked - this one was lincoln locked...

I kind of see his point though, he's financially drained after buying the buggy then building it up. Way over original budget of just putting this front 60 into his Ranger and running it the way it was.

I want him to back half the buggy so we can get more up travel, but he's financially/mentally drained and doesn't want to do anything with it until April or so. Right now he just wants to go wheel it and have fun. That's hard to argue with....
