Shaft drive ATV motor and trans(auto)

35 inch tires.

which shaft drive motors would be best....I would go for a honda goldwing drivetrain.....that would be sweet, 1200 CCs on the one in my neighbors driveway....fuel injection, some of the trannies have reverse....you are giving me ideas....

The 1200 gold wings are not fuel injected unless he has installed some aftermarket kit.

Starting about 1987-89 (whatever year they started building the 1500cc models is when they put reverse on them. Fuel injection came later. The newest gold wings have 1800cc engines.

That is a lot of motor, and the chances of picking one up cheap (even the 1500cc FI) are pretty slim.

There are plenty of shaft drive motorcycle engines out there, and the carbs generally work really well. My FJ1200 (chain drive) could carry a wheelie for a long way without any carb overflow problems. I'm not sure how they would do with the carbs angled the other way (as in going down hill), but I wouldn't hesitate to use a carb'd MC engine for building a buggy.
