Build me a Home Theater PC

UNSTUCK

But stuck more often.
A few years ago, a guy off KSL built me a HTPC. I paid to much and it has some issues. Runs on windows xp. I can go into the details more if you are interested.

Anyways, I know there are some good parts in it. I would like to try to put them in another computer that is much newer and better, and runs on windows 7. I need someone to put these two computers into one, assuming it can be done.

Let me know if you are interested. Thanks.

What are you looking to do with your HTPC? There are way cheaper/better options out there than having a PC sitting next to your TV. IMO, a PC sitting there is something for the past.

Huh, your post didn't show up yesterday when i looked. What's better then having one unit for blu rays, internet, and general computer work, all on a big screen. Plus, ask my wife, I'm about 10 years behind the game right now, so I live in the past. :D

All of my gear is kept in a separate storage room out of sight. All you see in my room is the tv and speakers. It's actually pretty nice. I think I have all the parts to make a nice PC so my out of pocket shouldn't be much more then a guys labor.

I'm open to ideas.

I have a server in my office closet that holds all our movies, music & photos. From there it gets streamed to whatever device in the house, whether it's a small unit or playstation at the tv or any handheld device. But for you it sounds like you have it all kind of at a centralized place at your TV. If you are happy with that then yea just upgrade the parts! Depending on what you have will depend on what you will want to upgrade.

As fast as computers evolve, old parts are not normally worth keeping since new hardware is fairly cheap. What's your budget? You can buy a ready built PC for not too much or I can help you build one for less. An alternative is a Apple MacMini. They are tiny, built in Wifi, BluTooth, rock solid, HDMI ports a plenty. I use one as my home computer and its been great. Add a Apple TV box and a ton of flexability.

I have a htpc but its not fancy. I have w8 pc on a old core duo mini tower dell pc with an added updated video card with hdmi video-audio output. It works for what I use it for. I also got a Lenovo Multimedia Remote with Keyboard LINK to help out on the mobility of using a computer. All of this is plugged into the tv hdmi port. Its not an audiophiles dream but for low budget functionality my htpc is working all for under 120.
