I have a few jeep drive line with slip yokes that are that would be the perfect lenths for my application. Could I get a CV joint from a Cherokee and make my drive line work or is it not worth the effort.

It is worth it.

Its deffinitely worth it, however not worth it if its a rear driveline. You will never get it balanced enough to not have vibes if its a rear, thus defeating the whole purpose of going with a CV driveline.

It is the rear but I was going to have it balances. Won't that be good enough

if they can balance it then yeah, it should be fine...often though homemade drivelines are too far out of balance to be balanced...

Cool. I don't. So. Gaylons Drivelines (I think, it used to be called GRS) in Lehi. John Doyle is the man and he builds awesome drivelines. He competes with a pull truck so he learned a few things about strength ;)

So what is the backyard way of balancing a drive line?

I heard of people welding on small washers and such to be used as counter weights..

Please share.

Have you ever seen one balanced before? Just do it the same way but jack up the car and lay under it.... :redneck:

No I havent seen one being balanced before.. but your suggestions has me in a whirlwind of funky thoughts of some redneck under his 4x jacked up with cinder blocks and yelling at uncle jethro for more go juice so he can watch the driveline wobble.

On a note of reality, how do you stabilize the ends and rotate it fast enough to make it noticeable?

Oh come on. You can make your own and it can be balanced. Just pay attention.
