Building Control Arms

Ok so I am going to be building myself some control arms for my ZJ. I guess my main question is what heim joints to go with? Brand? Also if anyone has any other info that may be useful when I build these, that would be great!

I have built many, and the last set on my wifes XJ used stock rubber bushings....If I was to do it again, I would use stock rubber again, flex is just as good, and ride/noise is better....If you feel you must use a super-nifty-cool-joint, I would sugest RE or Summit machine joints. Even the High dolar rodend/heim joints get noisey after a few miles....and you really notice it on a uni-frame. If you use them, use them at the axle end and rubber at the frame.

I'd definately go with stock rubber bushings and flex joints over any kind of heim.

Building control arms

Make sure you use the solid (full) rubber bushing ends and not the ones with the windows cut into them. The windows tend to tear the bushing apart after a little abuse because of too much deflection.

Yeah this will be my daily driver so those Superflex Joints and Stock Rubber Bushings seem like the best way to go. Thanks.

Seriously, you won't be disappointed. I've run my fair share of heims, and I just feel that the rubber bushings and flex joints are a superior combination.

And the funny thing is that it will probably cost you less to build your control arms with them.

Yeah it will...I've already checked into prices. Those stock rubber bushings run about $6 a piece, and the Superflex joints...well depending on if I do the small (RE3791) or large (RE3792)...run either $33 or $43.
