bump stop tech

so I am trying to get everything dialed on the scout. I set the stops at full bump level axle. so when the axle is level and at full compression I have 1" of shaft showing on the COs...

So when I flex it out...I am miles away from the stop and bottom the CO.

I assume this is bad that I should be using the stops to limit up travel not the shocks, even when articulated???

option 1
I can either increase the amount of shock showing at ride height (less droop), this will result in quite a bit more up but will put the shock at 50:50 or maybe even 60:40 bump:compression

Option 2
I can lower the stops which will bottom out much sooner on level ground?

Any other options? Any other tips for set up?

Where are you guys setting your stops for linked rigs?

my front stops are set to bottom out when it articulated. But I have recently put the doestach shocks on the front that have the bumpstop on the shock shaft. So I am changing the BS's at the frame to shorter ones to allow another 1.5" of uptravel when traveling at higher speeds.

On the rear I have bumps set up in the middle of the coils for high speed stuff and use the rear corner nerf bars as the stops when its articulated.

Thanks James...Does that mean the tire is hitting the nerf, stopping up travel??
it actually sounds worse then it is, it just comes up and kisses it enough to take the paint off. Because at full stuff the coils are completely compressed and the bumps in the middle of the coils are touching also.

I just didn't think it was/is bad enough to add about a 1" just to keep it off the nerf.

you are welcome to come by and see the way its set up.
