I have heard of providence canyon but have never taken it. I usually dont like to go alone. I will be up there this week and may have some time to run a trail.
If you want technical and rocky, Providence Canyon was about a 4 last time I took it. Left hand Blacksmith fork has a rock garden that is quite challenging, likely a 7, unless you have lots of flex and 37s.
When I was growing up I used to hit left hand fork on a 4 wheeler, if you don't want to tackle the rock garden I think you can go up by hardware ranch and drop in past it. The trails allow you to go pretty far, I popped out by Round Valley up by Bear Lake one year. I would hit Old Ephraim's grave if you're looking for something to go to.
Here’s a video from a few years ago coming down. It can be a little steep and rough, but nothing too technical.
There’s a ‘rock quarry” near the bottom with some fun climbing spots.
Get yourself some maps of the area. There are great trails all over that can take you up to Bear Lake or over to Monte Christo above Ogden Valley. None that I know of are particularly difficult, except maybe the rocky spot above Left Hand Fork, but the scenery is great.
