Cage Cost.

I feel that my next upgrade to my Land Cruiser should be a full roll cage.

I want this cage constructed out of DOM tubing. I would like a family style cage with provisions for 5 pt harnesses in the front seats.

I have seen the metal tech cage,

http://www.metaltechcage.com/fullcage.htm

Those look good, and are reasonably priced. however, I don't have the welding skill or experience necessary for me to trust my life to this cage, and it's constructed out of CREW tubing, not DOM.
Finally, I want the cage to tie into the dash (which is plenty strong), rather than going down to the floor for leg room reasons.

how much can I expect to pay for such a roll cage?

Thanks!

contact rocklogic, they can build you a cage.
or you could buy one like that and have a shop or just someone on here weld it for you.
that cage is pretty nice looking, but it seems overpriced for not being dom imo

Yep, have one custom built....If you MUST go to the dash, I would suggest putting a plate on the back side of the dash too, and take a short tube from there to the floor. I have seen cruiser dashes colsapse in rolls, when the cage only went to it....You will probably be at least $1000, but it is worth it!! Don't let a few couple $$ scare you off when it comes to a cage.

The dash on a cruiser is stronger than the floor of a cruiser. Unless you do a tie in to the frame, that is. Backing it up with plate is a no-brainer.

The cost doesn't scare me. I just need to know what to expect so I can save up for what I need.

If i was to do a cage, i would make sure I do it right. That is the single most important part of a offroad rig. make sure you take it all the way down to the frame. If seen poorly built cages crushed when the vehicle rolls over not pretty and not worth it. I know that Mt Logan Offroad builds a ton of cages and a few for crusiers i would give them a call 435-752-4272. were ever you go get it done right. But I think any shop that is going to put there name an a rollcage will to it right. ;)

JEEP? Your Jeep is hating life as a girls car!!! :D

By the time you make your HEEP as tough as a Cruiser is from the factory you've turned it into a Ford or a Chevy...

Now, I will give you that old cruisers are nice, but no way on the new ones. Those things are horrible! They weight more than five jeeps, and they cost about that much too. Jeeps, as far as I have seen, can go a lot farther, and do a lot more than a land crusher can anyhow, and for a lot less.

None the less, cheers
;) ;) ;)

This isn't supposed to be a bash on cruisers or bash on jeeps thread.
I am trying to gather information for further upgrades.

I am in the same boat as you, but $1000 seems kind of high. What is the difference between CREW and DOM tubing? Is there a significant strength difference. The metaltech cage has the coverage I want for the rear seats...much better than the stock cage I have.

CREW/HREW tubing isn't as strong as DOM tubing.

$1000 isn't that bad considering it's your life at stake.

Ideally, I want a Cro-Mo cage built, however, the price of the tubing and the price of the welding was REALLY hard to swallow, so I think a DOM tubing cage built properly will most likely do just fine.

I intalled a metalcage cage in mine. I didn't feel I could weld it either so I asked a friend to do it for me.
