General Tech Calvins buggy build

Well the time has come and I have finally pushed myself to build a buggy. I've been wanting to build one for years so I finally pulled the trigger. Not to mention that my wonderful wife pushed me to do it as well. This will be a rec wheeler with the capabilities to race when I want to. Probably do a few dirt riots and lucas regionals here and there. I wanted something safe, comfortable and roomy. And so far I think we're on the right track. So far I'm about a weeks worth of time into it. Chad schoon has been helping me as well. Im doing a build thread cause I'm sick and cant be out in the garage working on it. When the time is right I'm going to pull the drive train out of my cj and use it since its already bought and paid for Ill try and update this thread with pics as much as possible. But not being able to do it straight from my phone makes it a pain in the butt. So here are some pics of where it sits today.

Specs:
1.75"x.120 and .188 DOM
56" wide Campbell Enterprises cowl/hood/grill
6.0L LQ4 w/th400/Atlas 4.3
Gm KP60 and 14 bolt with 5.38's.
40x13.5x17 Maxxis Creepy Crawlers
114" Wb with 7" up/dpwn travel front/rear.
ADS 2.5" quad bypass remote res. air shocks and 4" air bumps
CBR 33x19 dual pass radiator w/ heat exchanger and CBR dual pass trans cooler.
Corbeau Baja XP seats
Rugged radios intercoms and kenwood race radio.

I Just scored a new set of axles yesterday. So im going to be getting those cleaned up and ready to go in place of my mock up axle tubes. Then I can start on link mounts and shock mounts. Then onto panels.

I would have done one sooner, but it won't let me upload photos from my phone for some reason. So emailing them and resizing them and then posting from the lap top is a PITA. But I'll try and keep this one updated. I've been sick this week so I've had a little bit of time to do this one

Thanks dave. They should work out alright. The 14 bolt is gonna be a little more work than just swapping hubs. But nothing that I can't handle

dang. that means everything i read about 14 bolts isn't necessarily true. or i misunderstood. Casey thought the same thing too.

Its nothing major. The srw 14 and the c&c (which is the one I got from you) both have the same housings and shafts. It's just the backing plate bracket that's welded on the tubes is inset 2" farther on each side. So all I have to do is get a set of srw hubs and then put a disc conversion on there and relocate the caliper bracket or just cut it off and get weld caliper mounts... Not really a big deal.

Thanks bart. It has some similarities to chads but it's different. It's a tad bit taller and wider in the cab area and it's longer and wider in the rear. I wanted to have plenty of room for a cooler and storage with out having to stack it on the fuel cell or anything.

I like the back end. Be cool if you could make a tailgate for it. Kinda look like a truck bed. I think you will like the little bit of extra wheel base too. Not to mention someplace to store stuff. Like what you have done so far!

Ahhh. Makes sense. I didn't think about the brakes. I figured you would be trying shave about 900 lbs off that axle and doing a disc set up anyway

The wheel base will be nice. My current rig is set up at 117" and I love how stable it is. I'm thinking about building a sealed box in the rear kinda like a trunk... We'll see how creative I feel when that time comes
