Where does everyone go? I would like to find some places to take my wife and kid besides a koa. I don't need hook ups but our set up is kinda long 28' trailer and 4 door truck. thanks Jesse

Beaver Creek is one of my favorites in the Logan Canyon area. Toad mentioned So. Idaho which is where I hang out do to smaller crowds and incredible scenery. Cub river, Immigration, Paris canyon, Powerhouse, Oneida Narrows (to name a few) all have the camp tables/fire pit/outhouse/small fee type camp spots with nearby attractions. If you don't mind trailer friendly but primitive campsites take your pick they're everywhere around here.

For people unfamiliar with the area I recommend the Paris Ice Caves, Bear Lake and Bloomington lake in So. Idaho. You would have to drop the trailer and drive around a bit to get there though. The Paris canyon campground would be the best place to anchor down and they have picnic tables, outhouses & running water (last I checked--better double check if thats a priority) along with fire pits. Minnitonka Cave: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minnetonka_Cave is interesting and in the area as well. They do provide seasonal tours so check the schedule.

Willow Flats/Cub River is a fun one if you want to park and stay put. There are two neat springs that are about a 1-2 mile hike away along with some great streams for fishing.

If your searching around and see something in particular that you might want to check out post up. We can give you a great idea of whats in the area and what spots would be best for the trailer :D Hope this helps,

Andrew

My trailer setup is similar, mine's a 35' trailer and my 4 door tundra, so finding spots is sometimes a challenge.

Immigration Canyon is beautiful. Go up towards the boy scout camp and turn left at the fork where it forks off toward the bs camp. After that it's open to where ever you decide. For campgrounds with hook-ups, we are members of Camper World. Most of the campgrounds are really nice and super easy to hook-up and go after work type of thing. Not my ideal camping, but the wife loves having the pools, full hook-ups, grassy spots, etc that their properties have. You do have to be a member though to use them.

The area Caleb mentioned is North Canyon which leads to 8mile. There is a decent dirt road thought those mountains from hwy 36 (turn off at Camp Bartlett) to Soda Springs with lots of good camp sites along that entire stretch. Its usually uncrowded and plenty of sites with enough room to swing that trailer around  Nearest services are Preston Idaho and Paris or Montpellier Idaho.

This! I made the same mistake (thinking the one in Salt Lake) when I first was told about Immigration Canyon.

Jesse, come visit me and I will pull it up for you. Its a nice area. You essentially go to Bear Lake and head towards Idaho. 3 miles after Paris there is a turn off that you can either go to Montpeliar or Preston. You go towards Preston. You cant miss it, its well marked. Neat area. There are also some nice places on the way to the Paris Ice Caves above Paris.
