Camping?

So the wife and I are wanting to take the kid for her first camping trip this weekend. So far everything I can find online for actual campsites want crazy stupid amounts of money.

I can do AF but I don't really want to deal with all the traffic going up and down the road, unless I can get my lifted Duramax well off the Alpine Loop.

So any ideas of where we should go within a two hour drive of Clearfield which isn't going to cost me an arm and a leg for a one night trip.

I've got a couple ideas of places to go down at AF where I should be able to get the truck to but more ideas would be awesome.

Running water and toilets and crap like that are not very important at least not for a one nighter.

For established campgrounds nearby, Timpooneke up AFC is nice. It's up the Alpine Loop side, but you turn off the main road and it's back a little ways.

Doesn't look like Simpson springs has enough shade to keep the wife happy, I really want to do Monte bristol but stuff up there is still closed so I think AF will probably do the trick. I thinly we will probably just head up there sat morning and drive around to see what is available

Actually at Simpson Springs, if you head back in a little ways, there's trees and shade and nice camping areas. It doesn't compare to AFC though.

We have been doing Middle canyon in Tooele and having good luck. Lots of shade, and even a little creek to play in.
